Giggi Buffon, ende numri 1 i portës së të kaltërve ka debutuar me Kombëtaren, pasi kishte mbushur 20 vjec pikërisht në kualifikueset e europianit me 10 tetor të vitit 1998 në sfidën Itali-Zvicër, 2-0.
