Ka ndëruar jetë në moshën 95 vjeçare Silvio Gazzaniga, artisti milanest, “babai” i Kupës së Botës, projektuar dhe realizuar për herë të parë në vitin 1971 dhe i porositur nga FIFA. Trofeu më i lakmuar i futbollit nuk ishte i vetmi i bërë nga projektuesi i famshëm në karrierën e tij të gjatë pasi në mesin e shumë krijimeve të tij, Gazzaniga ia ka dedikuar botës së  futbollit  edhe trofeun e  Kupës së UEFA, Superkupën e Ebropës dhe Kupën U-21.

I lindur në Milano më 23 janar 1921, Gazzaniga kishte studiuar në Shkollën e Arteve të Aplikuara “humanitare” dhe Shkollën e Artit të Kalasë Sforzesco, i specializuar si një argjendari dhe argjendar dhe përkushtimin e tij për medaljet e nisi që në moshë të re ku përveç pikëturës e studio edhe skulpturën.

Në karrierën e tij, e cila filloi si një adoleshent, Gazzaniga ka krijuar trofe dhe medalje për federatat kombëtare të ndryshme sportive dhe përtej. Emërohet komandanti i Urdhrit të Meritës të Republikës së Italisë, për arsye artistike dhe kulturore, në vitin 2011, me rastin e festimeve për 150-vjetorin e bashkimit të Italisë , kishte dorëzuar  trofeun për fituesit e edicioneve të atij viti në Giro D’Italia në edicionin e 108, dhe më pas edhe në Grand Prix Italia në Formula 1.
