Futbolli Nigerian ndodhet në krizën më shkatërruese, teksa plot 26 futbollistë të ekipit U-17 të përfaqësueses kanë dështuar në testin e moshës. Portali “Africanfootball.com” raporton se në vigjilje të një ndeshje që Nigeria do të zhvillojë përballë përfaqësueses tjetër afrikane, Niger, e vlefshme për kualifikueset e Kupës së Kombeve të Afrikës, plot 60 futbollistë të talentuar të ekipeve zinxhir të përfaqësueseve u testuan dhe ekzaminuan në lidhje me moshën e tyre të vërtetë. Një drejtues i lartë ka sqaruar se Nigeria do të ndeshet në këtë takim pa disa prej yjeve të saj, duke mos patur në dispozicion pikërisht futbollistët e saj më cilësorë. Konkretisht nga formacioni kryesor, vetëm dy janë futbollistët e Nigerisë, të cilët do të jenë të lejuar të luajnë në këtë takim.
Ai deklaroi: “Është një fatkeqësi e madhe dhe një problem shumë serioz”. Konfederata Africane e Futbollit (CAF) ka siguruar se tashmë do të ketë shumë herë më shumë testime transparente. Ata do të angazhojnë doktorë të pavarur, ndërsa futbollistët e Nigerisë janë tashmë të mbikqyrur nga një mjek egjiptian. Nigeria ka fituar Kupën e Botës për U-17, plot pesë herë, më e fundit në vitin 2015. I konsideruar si “djali i çudirave” i përfaqësueses portugeze, Renato Sanches, i cili shkëlqeu në Euro 2016, ishte më i fundit mes emrave të mëdhenj që u akuzua për falsifikim të moshës, por akuzat nuk u provuan, pas testeve të bëra.
