Në shtator të vitit 2005, Florentino Perez mbyllur nënshkrimin e Sergio Ramos. Presidenti i Real Madridit pagoi 27 milionë euro për Sevilla, që të marrë qendërmbrojtësin e ri, vetëm 19 vjeç, i cili u bë futbollisti i parë kombëtar, i rekrutuar nga Florentino, që kur ai u bë president i klubit në vitin 2000.

Ai ka shënuar gjashtë gola në finale, çka e bën Ramos lojtarin e gjashtë më të lartë finalizues në ndeshje të tilla.
