Komiteti Olimpik Ndërkombëtar (IOC), ka vendosur të përjashtojë Federatën ruse nga Lojërat Olimpike Dimërore, që do të zhvillohen në Korenë e Jugut, në vitin 2018.
Ky vendim u mor pas përfundimit të hetimeve të Komitetit Olimpik Ndërkombëtar, ku u vërtetuan akuzat për përdorim të substancave të ndaluara nga shumë sportistë rusë gjatë viteve të fundit dhe një skeme të ngritur nga Komiteti Olimpik i këtij vendi, në bashkëpunimin me shtetin për dopimin e atletëve.
Përveç këtyre masave, Komiteti Olimpik Rus u gjobit me 15 milionë euro nga IOC-ja. Në PyeongChang 2018 do të ftohen të marrin pjesë vetëm sportistë të caktuar rusë, të panjollosur nga historia e dopingut dhe që do të zbresin me flamurin e Komitetit Olimpik Ndërkombëtar dhe jo atë vendas.
Më herët, në çështjen e pajtimit mes Komitetit Olimpik Rus dhe atij Ndërkombëtar, u investua edhe Kremlini, ndërsa pati edhe një nismë të quajtur “#NoRussiaNoGames”, të cilës iu bashkuan shumë personalitete ruse, por mesa duket nuk patën aspak ndikim.
