Romela Begaj shkruan historinë! Shtangistja 31-vjeçare sot ka nderuar Shqipërinë në Botërorin e Peshëngritjes duke fituar dy medalje në turneun që po zhvillohet në Shtetet e Bashkuara në Amerikës.
Shqipëria kishte 45 vite që nuk fitonte një medalje ari në një Botëror dhe më në fund këtë sukses e ka arritur Begaj në shkëputje, teksa në dy garësh ka marrë vendin e dytë, e mposhtur nga Leidy Yessenia Solid Arboleda (Kolumbi).
Begaj bëri tri prova fantastike në shtytje dhe vendosi një rekord personal duke ngritur 107 kg. Në dygarësh ajo u përpoq të bënte të pamundurën. Fillimisht ngriti 125 dhe 128 kg, por më pas u dëmtua keqas në shpinë kur provoi 131 kg dhe u desh ndërhyrja e stafit mjekësor për ta ngritur. Arboleda ngriti 135 kg dhe mori vendin e parë.
Me shumë sakrifica, Begaj ia doli të fitojë medalje të argjendtë në dygarësh dhe tashmë e sheh veten në faqet më të arta të historisë së peshëngritjes shqiptare. Ajo është në kulmin e karrierës së saj dhe një shpërblim monetar nga shteti shqiptar do të ishte gjëja më e vogël për t’u bërë. /EDS/
