Felipe Massa ka njoftuar tërheqjen e tij nga Formula 1 në fund të edicionit.  Piloti brazilian e ka dhënë lajmin në një konferencë shtypi në Monza, aty ku do të zhvillohet gara e radhës e Botërorit.

“Pas 15 vitesh karrierë, këto do të jenë 8 garat e mia të fundit”, tha Massa, dukshëm i emocionuar. Braziliani ka qenë pilot i Sauber, Ferrari dhe Williams. Deri më sot ka zhvilluar 243 Çmime të Mëdha dhe ka fituar 11 herë. Ai në 41 raste  ka arritur të ngjitet në podium.

Në vitin 2008 ishte shumë pranë titullit kampion me Ferrarin, por e humbi kampionatin nga Hamilton në xhiron e fundit të garës së fundit të Botërorit.
