Drejtuesit më të lartë të FIFA-s dhe të konfederatave që e përbëjnë, janë mbledhur sot në Zyrih dhe kanë bërë propozimet e para për ndarjen e vendeve sipas konfederatave për Botërorin 2026, vit nga i cili ky turne do të shohë 48 skuadra si protagoniste në fazën finale. Propozimet e bëra sot do duhet të ratifikohen nga Këshilli i FIFA-s në maj, para se të mblidhet Kongresi i 67 i kësaj organizate, shkruan “L.A”.
Propozimi që ka dalë nga mbledhja e sotme sheh ndarjen në fazën finale si vijon:
AFC (Azia): 8 pjesëmarrës
CAF (Afrika): 9 pjesëmarrës
CONCACAF (Amerika e Veriut, Qendrore dhe Karaibet): 6 pjesëmarrës
CONMEBOL (Amerika e Jugut): 6 pjesëmarrës
OFC (Oqeania): 1 pjesëmarrës
UEFA (Europa): 16 pjesëmarrës
Vendi organizator kualifikohet direkt por vendi i tij hiqet nga kuotat e mësipërme në Konfederatën përkatëse.
Kjo ndarje cakton 46 nga 48 vendet, pasi dy pjesëmarrësit e fundit duhet të përcaktohen nga një play-off ndërkontinental që ka një rregullore shumë specifike. Kjo fazë do të përbëhet nga një Kombëtare për çdo konfederatë me përjashtim të UEFA-s si dhe një skuadër nga Konfederata e vendit organizator. Dy skuadrat e para nga ky mini-grup në renditjen e FIFA-s do të jenë në vazon e të mirave dhe do të presin dy fitueset që dalin nga turi i parë i play-off i organizuar mes 4 skuadrave të tjera.
Ndërkohë, planifikohet që në Nëntorin 2025 të zhvillohet e ashtuquajtura Kupa e Konfederatave, në të cilën do të testohet edhe organizmi i aktivitetit të vitit 2026 me këtë pjesëmarrje masive skuadrash.
