Lituania për të mposhtur Argjentinën iu fal paraqitjes fantastike të bërë nga basketbollisti i Unicaja Malagas Mindaugas Kuzminskas i cili realizoi në total 23 pikë ndërkohë që e ndihmoi skuadrën e tij edhe me 5 rebound dhe 1 asist.
Pas dy humbjeve në 2 ndeshjet e para arriti suksesin e parë në Olimpiadë Spanja. La Furia Roja mposhti lehtësisht Nigerinë me rezultatin 96-87 në ndeshjen e tretë në grup duke mbajtur gjallë shpresat e kualifikimit. 24 pikët e Oguchi-it nuk i mjaftuan Nigerisë ndërsa te Spanja dy basketbollistët më të mirë mbi parket ishin Pau Gasol me 16 pikë 7 rebound dhe 3 asiste e Ricky Rubio me 15 pikë 4 rebound dhe 4 asiste. Zhgenjeu sërish tifozët e tij Brazili që u mposht në ndeshjen e tretë në grup nga Kroacia me rezultatin e ngushtë 80-76. Të dyja këto përfaqësuese vinin në këtë ndeshje me nga 1 fitore dhe 1 humbje por në fund ata që hodhën një hap të madh përpara drejt kualifikimit në cerekfinale ishin kroatët. Thjeshtë i mrekullueshëm ylli i përfaqësues ballkanase Bojan Bogdanovic i cili në këtë ndeshje shënoi në total 33 pikë.
